James Madison helped establish America's first political party, the Republicans. He set up the first party newspaper and joined Thomas Jefferson on a trip to collect political allies, though he stated that he travelled to collect biological specimens. He is considered the father of American politics. The old Republicans are still present today as the Democrats.
