I think the document is explaining who Luzia is and what she did. People (including herself) believed that God was working through her and gave her the power to cure people throughout Rio de Janeiro. The document was the captain's testimony as to what he saw her do and what he heard of her in her Inquisition trial.
As per the document that is taken from the testimonies of captain de Diogo de Carvalho in which the inquisition trials of the Luzia pinta as free black women from Angola is portrayed.
- As per the text the luzia sees the house of João Peixoto. There she sees a small altar of canopy which had a knife in her hand and a ribbon tied to head some sort of dress.
- With her were some black women who were also from Angola. There was an African man who was playing a tambourine. After some moments of time the people who were invited were lying on the floor as luzia seemed to be enchanting some words.
They believed that god told her to do so as it represented a tridiagonal method of curing or healing people.
