[tex] - 5x + y = - 7.......(1) \\ - 3x - 2y = - 12......(2) \\ from \: (1) \\ y = - 7 + 5x \\ substitute \: in \: (2) \\ - 3x - 2( - 7 + 5x) = - 12 \\ - 3x + 14 - 10x = - 12 \\ [/tex]

[tex] - 13x = - 26 \\ x = \frac{ 26}{13} \\ x = 2[/tex]

[tex]y = - 7 + 5x \\ = - 7 + 5 \times 2 \\ = - 7 + 10 \\ y= 3[/tex]
