The populations of several different regions of a state are shown. Find the mean of the data. region 1: 20,200 region 2: 14,500 region 3: 18,800 region 4: 9,300 region 5: 2,200 A. 13,000 B. 14,500 C. 18,000 D. 65,000

Answer: A

Solution: To find the mean (average) of a data you add up all the data given and divide it by the amound of seperate data there is i.e there are 4 boys, boy a is 1.3m high, boy b is 1.5m high, boy c is 1.1m high and boy d is 2m high. To find the mean(average) you add up all the data (height) 1.3m + 1.5m + 1.1m + 2m = 5.9m, 5.9 is the total, to find the mean you divide the total by the amount of values (boys), there are 4 boys so you do 5.9/4 = 1.475m, so the mean is 1.475m

Basically All the data (regions) added up is 65,000 and there are five regions (values) so you divide 65,000 by 5 which is 13,000
