The author believes people are not helpless and will change their behavior as they learn more about the risks of soda. She sees soda as an addictive substance, so people struggle with too many options. As stating, "I agree wholeheartedly  that obesity is an issue that needs to be addressed. It is one that  needs to be addressed with education, compassion and support, not
