The African Americans did not have the chance to thrive in the United States during the period of reconstruction.

What was the reconstruction?

The reconstruction was the period that the United States wanted to integrate the American society during the ending of the civil war.

The blacks at this time were assumed to have had their freedom but they were also faced with certain issues that had to do with segregation and discrimination in the United States.
