How we're free African Americans treated in antebellum north? Why did some groups of people view them as a threat?

The African Americans were treated better in the Anetbellum North, but they weren't treated with total respect. Some of the groups found them as a threat because they had more rights than the slaves in the south did and were afraid of an uprising.
