Need help with 2 nuclear power plant questions:

1. For what purpose does the water systems within a reactor core form a closed loop?

2. How is a nuclear power plant similar to a coal fired power plant?

1- if i understand your question correctly it cools the whole system down so it can maintain a certain temperature so it does not like blow up 
as far as the secind question im not sure
