Customers of a phone company can choose between two service plans for long distance calls. The first plan has a
$
16

monthly fee and charges an additional
$
0.10

for each minute of calls. The second plan has no monthly fee but charges
$
0.14

for each minute of calls. For how many minutes of calls will the costs of the two plans be equal?

a=16+0.1m and b=0.14m  they will be equal when:

16+0.1m=0.14m  subtract 0.1m from both sides:

16=0.04m  divide both sides 0.04

m=400 minutes

So after using 400 minutes both plans will cost the same.
