Joe will rent a car for the weekend. He can choose one of two plans. The first plan has an initial fee of $41.98 and costs an additional $0.19 per mile driven. The second plan has an initial fee of $53.98 and costs an additional $0.15 per mile driven. How many miles would Joe need to drive for the two plans to cost the same?

Respuesta :

You can set up expressions for each. (x = the amount of miles driven)
First plan: cost = 41.98 + .19x
Second plan: cost = 53.98 + .15x
Then you set them equal to eachother
41.98 + .19x = 53.98 + .15x
.04x = 12
x = 300
Joe would need to travel 300 miles for them to cost the same
