The shark was swimming at 20 feet below sea level then the shark descended 36 feet so the shark was 56 feet below sea level. Then the shark ascended 7 feet so the shark end up at 49 feet below sea level. 20+-36= 50 feet below , 56-7 feet= 49 feet below sea level.
