Let x as number of adult tickets and y as number of student tickets

x+y=1260
y=1260-x

5x+1y=2688
5x+1(1260-x)=2688
5x+1260-x=2688
4x=2688-1260
x=1428÷4
x=357 adult tickets sold

y=1260-357
y=903 student tickets sold
