The Reconquista is the long series of wars and battles between the Christian Kingdoms and the Muslim Moors for control of the Iberian Peninsula. It endured for a good  chunk of the Middle Ages from 718 to 1492.
The Reconquista is a name used to describe a certain time period in the history of the Iberian Peninsula of about maybe 780 years between the Umayyad of Hispania in 711 The Reconquista was completed just before the Spanish discovery of the Americas"New World".
